Information
The proposal of the Rectorate of Siirt University in the field of
Engineering-Architecture and Science and Literature Faculties was examined at
the meeting of the General Assembly of Higher Education dated 15/11/2007 in
accordance with the article 7 / d-2 amended by Law No. 2847 with Law No. 2847
The Department of Turkish Language and Literature has been established in
accordance with the establishment of departments and branches of education
within the said faculties.
There are 221 students as of date 2022 registered in Turkish Language and Literature department.
Period and coverage of the Turkish Language and
Literature Department
Education period in the history department consists of 8 semesters..
It is necessary to pass the midterm and final exams at the end of each academic
year to graduate from the department. In
addition to this, there are end-of-term exams at the end of each semester. It is also requested that the student will be
able to prepare a Final Thesis and an oral presentation for this work at the
end of a project (at 7th or 8th semesters).
Exam and Evaluation
One written midterm and one written final exam are scheduled every
semester. The net achievement score for
a course is obtained with 40% of the average scores of the practical written
midterm exams and other educational activities (quizzes, reports) plus 60% of
the final exam. If the average grade is
60 and over, the student is considered to be successful in that grade.

Description of Program
The Department of
Turkish Language and Literature started with 40 students in 2015-2016 academic
year.In the department that will give its first graduates in 2019, started to take students for graduate programs in 2015-2016 academic
year. The department is on its own
within the scheme of academic organization, consists of five sciences: Old
Turkish Language, Old Turkish Literature, New Turkish Literature, New Turkish
Language, Turkish Folk Literature.However, a mixed curriculum is being
implemented. There are 1 professor, 1 associate professor, 3 assistant
professors and 9 research assistants in the department.
Graduation
Requirements
This department is
subject to the first stage degree system of 240 ECTS credits in the field of
Turkish Language and Literature in higher education. When the program is
successfully completed and program qualifications are provided, the degree of
Bachelor of Science in Turkish Language and Literature is achieved.
Career
Opportunities
Graduates can work as
specialists, advisors or teachers in libraries, press organizations and
publishing houses in accordance with their education. Students who have
successfully completed the program can apply for graduate and doctoral degrees
in Turkish language and literature or apply to the science departments that
accept students from these fields.
